Before looking at this comparison, you should realise that UWT offers a prepaid facility for its services as well as the more common monthly debiting to the customer’s credit card. This means that all of the advantages gained by using UWT are available to customers who prefer to prepay for these services.
How does this UWT prepaid facility work?
When you sign up for a UWT service, you are given the option of making a US$40 minimum prepayment using Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover, using PayPal. PayPal will also accept Visa and MasterCard Debit Cards. These debit cards may be linked to a bank account or not linked with the balance topped up as and when needed - customers do not need a bank account. Visa and MasterCard Debit cards are available in most countries and are a very convenient and secure method for on-line transactions. PayPal is a secure site - you do not have to be a PayPal customer to use it. Your UWT balance can be topped up in the same way.
No matter what method of payment is used, ALL UWT customers get the same high level UWT customer and product services!
Why Use UWT instead of a PrePaid Card?
UWT uses “first tier carriers” such as Cable and Wireless an AT&T. Using a first tier carrier means that the quality of the voice connection is assured. UWT will not compromise on quality. Many prepaid card providers use carriers where voice quality is sacrificed for price.
With UWT your service never runs out of value when using the credit card debit facility. (Using the UWT prepaid service just means an immediate on-line top-up to keep your connection). PrePaid cards run out of value or expire before the value is used up (this is how prepaid providers make money).
Using UWT services, particularly the great value with GlobalCallConnect, means that you can make calls from over 300 countries with Callback or over 100 countries/locations using GlobalCallConnect. Most prepaid cards are restricted to the country of issue.
All UWT services provide customers with detailed monthly statements on use. PrePaid providers do not provide statements and this means that you cannot query your usage.
With UWT “what you see is what you get” - the rate you pay is what you see on the website and nothing more. With many prepaid cards, additional charges may be hidden in the “fine print”. That is, the quoted per minute rate has confusing add-on charges.
Signing up with UWT means that customers can manage their account on-line from any location in the world, using UWT’s secure password access. For example, they can update their profile, check on their usage on a day by day basis, and submit trouble tickets. Compare this with trying to access a prepaid card’s customer service facility (often at your cost) - you may not be able to speak their language!
For Agents
UWT services do not require agent investment in product. PrePaid cards require agents to purchase them (at a discount which is equivalent to commission). If you don’t sell the cards you lose money. If you sell them through another reseller then you have to share the discount. Some prepaid cards may expire before you can sell them.
PrePaid cards have limited customer loyalty. An agent may put a lot of effort into selling one card to a customer and, when that card is used up, then the customer purchases another prepaid card from the most immediate and convenient source. With the UWT services, an agent has a much greater chance of customer commitment to the UWT brand and so gains continuing commission with minimal on-going effort. The agent can then concentrate their efforts in continuing to build an increasing customer base.
